Oaks

Just as the seeds are planted in our Acorns Room, in Oaks our children grow big, strong and independent.

Environment is said to be the third teacher in early years development; we have embraced this thought and designed Oaks room to stimulate and challenge young minds as well as just being great fun. You will see this as soon as you walk into the room – our large slide and oak tree mural (painted by one of our talented parents!) really makes the room special.

There are lots of different areas, each carefully planned and designed to provide a specific stimulation. Our children can free flow around the entire room, making their own decisions as to what they want to do during the day. Whatever the activity, our trained staff are on hand to enhance play opportunities.

There are spaces to cover all areas of the Early Years Curriculum – Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding The World etc – all of these help children reach their milestones and are supported with appropriate toys and resources. Within the room children have the opportunity to develop skills that are acquired for school. Being able to take turns, socialising with their friends and adults, and learning to be independent.

There is a cosy area in the Oaks Room where children have access to sensory toys and an increasing range of books. This is a lovely space for the children, they have the opportunity to relax and have some quiet time.

We also have a beautiful art room which is set up for little minds, to help their imaginations to run wild. The children engage in lots of messy and creative fun, along with our trained staff who are always looking for new learning experiences to share with the children.

Attached to the room is a bathroom which is fully equipped for children who are in nappies, toilet training or is confident with their toileting. The toilet and sinks are down at the children’s level so they can do it independently.
